Abstract

Data obtained from closed vessel tests, performed for nine values of loading density from the range [50,250] kg/m3 with seven tests for the each value of loading density, are analysed to determine the vivacity function. Based on this broad experimental material the following problems are considered: (i) How large is the random scatter of the vivacity function values for nominally the same conditions of the tests? (ii) Can we determine the dependence of the burning rate on pressure making use of the vivacity functions for various values of loading density? (iii) What is the influence of heat losses on the vivacity function? We find that the form of the vivacity function is highly dependent on the loading density.
