Contamination Transfer from Processing Aid Materials to Prepreg

Abstract

A lot of amount of processing aid materials (e.g. parting film, bag film, etc.) are used for fabrication of composite parts. Quality of the processing aid materials tends to be treated as unimportant, however, contamination transfer from processing aid materials to composite material could cause reduction of interlaminar strength. (Figure 1) Therefore, it is important to understand phenomenon of the contamination transfer in order to select clean processing aid materials and process which cause less contamination transfer.
