The Use of Adapted Measurement Techniques for the Structural Monitoring for Ariane Group Needs: Focus on Two Specific Needs and Solutions Evaluated

Abstract

ArianeGroup has been looking for solutions and advantages of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) for launchers since a long time. Development and strong improvement of new sensing technologies, with also the reusability objectives, brings new possibilities and interest for SHM. In that frame the presentation will focus on two main problematics for the monitoring of our structures and on the solution developed. A brief review of two approaches for SHM will be present: adapting enhance NDE and using the mechanical behavior approach; each with the technical solutions evaluated.
