Assessment of Fire Damaged Concrete Elements Using Colour Identification Technique
Abstract
In this study, an effort is made to describe how the change in colour of fire exposed concrete indicates the temperature attained during fire exposure in quantitative terms/digital values. The experiments were carried out by exposing M 30 grade concrete cube specimens to definite temperatures for different time durations. Concrete samples were collected from fire exposed cubes and analysed for change in colour using graphic card technology of computer. The tests for the determination of percentage voids and ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) were also carried out on fire exposed concrete cubes. The data generated for the variation in UPV values and percentage voids will further help in estimation of temperature attained in fire exposed concrete in real fire conditions
