Preliminary Study to Dynamic Mechanical Properties of the Fresh Swine Thighbone

D.Q. ZHANG, G.P. CHEN, D. JIA

Abstract

Mechanical property of the bone is an important part of biomechanical study. Compared with the static performance of the bone, its dynamic response characteristic has vital significance. In this paper we tested the dynamic mechanical properties of the fresh swine thighbone with the Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB). The collected data were processed automatically by the software with Tow-wave and Tri-wave methods, and then the dynamic compression stress-strain curve was achieved. It is more meaningful to do the experimentation in this way than we used to do in a cell test specimen.
