Abstract

Cavitated bifurcation for the sudden formation of cavity in a solid two-family fiber-reinforced anisotropic incompressible hyper-elastic sphere subjected to a uniform radial tensile boundary dead load and the growth of a pre-existing cavity are studied. There exists a critical value for the load computing the differential equation between the cavity radius and the applied load. A cavity may form at the center of the sphere when the load is larger than this critical value. The bifurcation occurs locally to the left and the subsequent growth of the cavity is without bound. The stability of solutions is discussed through energy comparison.
