Analytical Solution of Non-Uniform Settlement for Embankments on Soil Foundations

Abstract

A novel model for analyzing non-uniform settlement of embankments on heterogeneous soil foundations is proposed. The embankment is constructed on a foundation which consists of two different soil segments. Model for analysis is established using stress diffusion method. Basic differential equations and pertinent boundary conditions are given. Fourier transform technique is employed for finding the analytical solution of the non-uniform settlement. Numerical result of this solution is provided.
