Abstract

Cyclic strain controlled multiple step tests in air have been performed on cylindrical specimens of cast ï§-based alloy Ti–48Al–2Nb–2Cr–0.82B at. % with nearly lamellar microstructure of ï§ï€ andï¡2 phases at 23 and 750 °C. The objective was to analyze the internal and effective cyclic stress components which were derived from the hysteresis loops analyzed according to the statistical theory of hysteresis loop. Dislocation structures in cyclically strained specimens at room temperature were observed using TEM. Cyclic response at both temperatures was compared and discussed in relation to changes of internal and effective stress components and dislocation modes in ï§ phase observed and referred in the literature.
