Research on Creep Characteristic of Nano-Montmorillonite Modified Asphalt Binder
Abstract
The requirement for modified bitumen are increasing according to the high load condition and worse serving environment in modern highway construction. The aim of this work was the comparison of aging resistance capability from the creep stiffness modulus curve, for original asphalt and asphalt modified with different amounts organic nanometer montmorillonite (OMMT). Repeated creep and recovery experiments using dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) at different temperatures were carried out. The result showed that the OMMT introduction can reduce the creep stiffness modulus of the asphalt aged and 5wt% OMMT introduction reduce it most obviously, which indicates that the OMMT power can effectively improve the aging resistance capability of the asphalts.
