Effect of Zeolite 4A on the Aging and Rheological Properties of SBS Asphalt Binders
Abstract
Effect of zeolite 4A on the properties of styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) asphalt binders was studied. The thin film oven test (TFOT) and pressure aging vessel system (PAV) were used to investigate the effect of zeolite 4A on the short-term and long-time aging properties of SBS asphalt. The effect of zeolite 4A on the rheological properties was studied using dynamic shear rheometer (DSR) test. The variation of the softening point, penetration, ductility of asphalt binder indicated that the addition of zeolite 4A can improve the aging property and high temperature stability of SBS asphalt, especially when the content of it was 6wt%. Furthermore, the results of the temperature sweeps by the DSR on SBS asphalt and that modified by 6wt% zeolite 4A showed that the rutting resistance and high temperature stability of SBS asphalt were improved when the zeolite 4A had been added.
