Combined Self-Consistent and Mori-Tanaka Approach for Mechanical Properties of Particulate Composites and Applications
Abstract
A combined self-consistent and Mori-Tanaka approach is developed for the evaluation of the effective property of particulate composites. The conventional Mori-Tanaka and self-consistent schemes can be obtained as its two special cases. The effective elastic property of some typical particulate composites is analyzed and compared with experimental results. This approach can be extended to the evaluation of the elastoplastic properties of particulate composites. The introduced parameter n can be associated with experimental data for a more accurate evaluation, and can play a role to describe indirectly the relative size-effect of particles.
