Discussion on the Relation between Fractal Distribution of Slope Loose Deposit and Its Mechanics Principle

Abstract


The fractal law of loose slope deposits around the State Road 317 Dujiangyan to Wenchuan, was studied by employing fractal theory. The research shows that: The fractal dimension of particle size distribution of the slope loose deposit is between 2 and 3. Density, porosity and internal friction angle was studied experimentally with large relative densitometer and direct shear apparatus. The result shows that, as fractal dimension increases, density and porosity of the slope loose deposits increases, while the internal friction angle decreases. On this basis, a fitted formula which can approximately reflect the relation between fractal dimension, density, porosity and internal friction angle was obtained.
