Abstract

Since engineering rock mass always exist in natural weathering or erosion environment, it’s interesting to study the influence of soaking in acid/base solution on strength and deformation features of rock and its fracture. Strength and deformation characteristics of four types of cylindrical rock samples soaked in five kinds of solution and initial normal stiffness and maximum aperture of its fracture were experimental studied in this paper. The results show that both strength and average modulus of rock samples that have been soaked in acid/base solution are lower than fresh ones; initial normal stiffness of soaking rock fracture is also lower, but its maximum aperture is bigger than fresh ones.
