Multiscale Modeling for Discussion about the Anisotropism of Spruce Wood

Y.Z. ZHANG, W.Z. ZHONG, C.J. CHEN

Abstract

Geometry models were constructed based on the micron scale structures of the spruce wood showed by the EM photos. To focus on the anisotropy caused by the micron structures, the material that formed by wood fibers was considered isotropic here. The failure envelops obtained by simulations with and without pits structures considered are quite different, shows that these micron structures have considerable effects on the material properties in macroscale.
