Finite Element Analysis of Mechanical Properties of 3D and 5-D Tubular Braided Composites
Abstract
In this paper, a finite element solid model was established based on the unit cell model of 3D and 5-D tubular braided composites, as well as the assumption that the yarns possess elliptic cross-section. Periodical boundary condition was employed. Using this model, average stress and strain corresponding to a given displacement load could be obtained with the implementation of ANSYS. The elastic constants of material and effective properties should be gained subsequently. The calculation results showed good agreements with the experimental results.
