Abstract

ZnO nanowires have promising applications in photonics, chemical, gas ionization, field emission, and piezoelectrical sensors due to their wide bandgap, large exciton binding energy, and piezoelectrical properties. Electrochemical growth is the low cost and short time fabrication method that is used for fabrication of ZnO nanorods/ nanowires on n- and p-type Si substrates, on Au and Al metallic layers, on seed layer, on patterned surface, and in anodic alumina membrane. The morphology modifications are reported based on changes in temperature of electrolyte, on effects of the conductivity, the surface roughness, and area of the substrate.
