Abstract

Sustainable packaging is an important way to realize the sustainable development of economy, society and environment. The main method for evaluating the environmental friendliness of packaging is Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). But this method has some shortages, for example decided the weight subjectively and unclear output results. In this paper, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method is introduced into the evaluation system of sustainable packaging. This way made the assessment of packaging become more conveniently and clearly, and then analyzed the sustainable packaging indicators of three kinds of milk packaging forms using input-oriented primal CCR model. The result of this study is that the sustainable packaging indicators of composite box is 0.9892, that is inefficient unit, and other units are effective. And the improve way of composite box is given in this study. Last but not least, the results of DEA are consistent with those of LCA.
