Selection of Cushioning Packaging Materials Based on the Improved Entropy Weight Grey Correlation
Abstract
With the rapid development of economy in current society, the circulation of products becomes increasingly frequent and quick, and the clients’ requirements for the integrity of the products become higher. Therefore, package cushioning has been widely used in product packaging and plays an important part in protecting the products during storage, shipment and sale. In order to satisfy the cushioning requirements of different products, appropriate cushioning materials should be selected considering economical and environmental properties. The established evaluation system comprises 9 evaluation indicators corresponding to the characteristics of different material, which includes restrictive and preferred indicators, and adopts grey relational analysis method. The grey relational ranking for five common cushioning materials is obtained through the case study, and the optimal alternative material is clarified. The method avoids the situation where the evaluation indicators are considered equally, reduces the error brought about by the subjective judge for the similar materials through the entropy method, and provides reference for protecting products.
