Abstract

The US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) has proved that shaped charge liner can be driven by strong electromagnetic energy to form jets. In this work, we establish a theoretical model for jet formation driven by strong electromagnetic energy. MATLAB software was used to calculate a liner in the experiment of reference 7 driven by electromagnetic energy under different current waves through analytic formula. Collapse velocity and jet velocity under different current waveforms were obtained. The results showed that the current waveform has a great influence on jet forming. The tip collapse velocity and jet velocity is positively correlated with peak current and the tail collapse velocity and jet velocity is positively correlated with rise time.
