Calculation of Axial Magnetic Force of Solenoid Inductor Made of Coil with Rectangular Cross-Section

Abstract


With the development of the electromagnetic launch technology, the calculation of magnetic forces is a subject of great importance. In this paper, we present analytic-numerical expression for the calculation of the axial magnetic force of solenoid inductor made of coil with rectangular cross-section, a two-dimensional model and a three-dimensional model was established and the finite element method was utilized to simulate the problem. Three cases are calculated by the above three methods. The results showed that the coil tends to close from both ends to the middle, and the outermost coil is subjected to the greatest electromagnetic force. Results obtained by the three approaches are in excellent agreement. Key words: Pulsed power supply, solenoid inductor, Axial magnetic force, FEM, Analytic-numerical
