Abstract

The present work modifies the Walker-Anderson model in order to accurately compute damage scenes due to synergistic effects of multiple penetrators. Modifications are proposed to the model governing equations in order to account for differences in the target strain rate field and already damaged surfaces as a result of the action of multiple penetrators impacting in close spatial and temporal proximity. The damage scenes predicted by the fast-running model are then compared to those predicted by a range of high-fidelity computational phenomenology simulations to assess the model’s performance.
