Experiment Study on Anti-Penetration Peformance of Liquid Composite Armor to Shapedcharged Jet
Abstract
This paper focuses on the anti-penetration performance of liquid composite armor and fluid viscosity influence on anti-penetration performance of liquid composite armor. The concept of STF as filler of liquid composite armor subject to shaped charge jet (SCJ) is presented in this paper, and these liquid are water, ploy ethylene glycol of 200 molecule mass (PEG200), two kinds of STF. Firstly, rheological experiment on four kinds of liquid was carried out to obtain the viscosity vs. shear rate curve. Secondly, depth of penetration (DOP) experiments of liquid composite armor containing four different liquid subjecting to Φ56mm shaped charge (SC) were carried out. Furthermore, one reference DOP experiment with steel target was also carried out. Based on the data of rheological and DOP experiment, the protective performance of different liquid composite armor was analyzed, moreover the influence of liquid viscosity on the anti-penetration performance was discussed.
