Abstract

The RPG-7 infantry rocket constitutes a significant threat for the vehicle protection’s design. The evaluation of statistical armour, integrated on vehicles to defeat these rockets, is long and complex. The challenge is to explore all configurations of impact with the minimum of test. This paper proposes an experimental approach to estimate the protection probability offer by a kind of statistical systems. The methodology is based on the shortcircuit observation during grenade/protection interaction with specific instrumented trials and an associated statistical processing. It allows getting details on physical phenomenon leading to dysfunction and also estimating its occurrence.
