Parameters Optimization for Numerical Effectiveness Determination of Fragmentation Warheads Aginst Land Vehicles

CÉDRIC ARCHAMBAUD, CHANTAL GUERRY

Abstract

Lethality and vulnerability analysis is especially used to assess the destructive effects that weapons have on targets. Depending on the studied part of the technical field, the calculations to be performed are not the same. As regards the effectiveness determination of fragmentation warheads against land vehicles, it requires a large number of random calculations. We focus on optimizing the calculations parameters in order to reduce the computing time that can be very long in some cases. The priority parameters studied are the number of times the detonation of the warhead is simulate in each cell of the lethal area matrix, the size of the cells and the minimum mass fragments considered.
