Inverse Modeling of Compressive Response in Presence of Defects
Abstract
In this study we look at defect induced compressive strength reduction in thick unidirectional carbon composite material. Test results from controlled defect size coupons are used to guide the study. A numerical model was developed to replicate the tested specimens and validated against the test results. Using the Latin Hypercube Sampling method random input parameters were generated to study the correlation of input parameters to the compressive response.
