Effect of Elevated Temperature on Adhesively Bonded Lightweight Material Single Lap Joints
Abstract
This study investigates the effect of elevated temperature on the static load transfer capacity of adhesively bonded composite-based single lap joints. Two different types of temperature resistant adhesives as well as various joint material combinations are studied. The static load transfer capacity and corresponding failure mode are evaluated at room temperature and at elevated temperature of 285°F.
