Reliability of Probability of Detection (POD) of Fatigue Cracks for Built-in Acousto-Ultrasound Technique as “in-situ†NDE
Abstract
The acousto-ultrasond based SHM technique is quantified as "in-situ NDE" through a probability of detection (POD) method based on a new model assisted approach in the context of fatigue crack detection following the traditional scheduled maintenance concept. A numerical model is developed based on Bayesian method using fatigue test specimen data from multiple PZT sensor paths forming a Unit-cell around the crack hotspot. The model demonstrates that five or more independent specimens’ data can sufficiently provide convergence in results.
