Parallel Simulations of Acoustic Wave Propagation in a 3-D Spherical Model of the Sun

Abstract


We present a numerical method for simulating the propagation of acoustic waves in a three-dimensional model of the sun. The simulations are used to test and improve helioseismology techniques which provide means for studying the solar interior. Selected results are presented. We also provide some details on the parallel implementation.
