Design of a Structural Health Monitoring System Based-On PZTs and Lamb Waves

Abstract


The structural health monitoring technique based-on PZT and Lamb waves and its system were researched for the urgent demand and application immaturity of damage detection in railway system. It firstly discussed the research status of structural health monitoring methods and system, and then it proposed an identification algorithm of structural damage based on damage index. Furthermore, it designed the active structural health monitoring system, and then carried out the experiment and verification of the system on helicopter tail boom. The experimental results have shown that the designed monitoring system could be reliable, stable, and sensitive to the damage with broad application prospect in critical components of high-speed transport.
