Effects of Ultrasonic Vibration on Weld Appearance and Microstructure of FSW of Aluminum Alloy
Abstract
In the same welding parameters 6061-T6 aluminium alloy rolled sheets were friction stir welded with and without ultrasonic vibration (UV). Effects of UV on friction stir weld was illustrated by comparing the weld shape and corss-sectional macro- and microstructure. Ultrasonic Vibration made the microstructure change from TMAZ to WNZ more continuous than that of conventional FSW, which avoided stress concentration and sudden change in properties, and thus stabilized the appearance of the weld.
