Bottleneck Effect on a Bidirectional Two-Lane Mixed Traffic Flow

Abstract


Based on the cellular automaton NaSch traffic flow model, a new bidirectional two-lane mixed traffic flow model with bottleneck is proposed. By numerical simulation, it is found that the traffic flow presents two phase transition points and forms a platform which is a typical characteristic of bottleneck, and the flow rate of the platform is about a half of maximum flow without bottleneck when the length of the bottleneck is less than the passing sight distance
