Analysis on the Aerodynamic and Aero-Noise of MIRA Model
Abstract
The characteristics of flow field and aerodynamic noise are predicted by using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to evaluate the feasibility of large eddy simulation. It is shown that the statistics averaged flow field parameters can be obtained using large eddy simulation. The distribution of sound source is dependent on the flow status. High sound pressure level is occurring at the separated point region and low sound pressure level is occurring at the boundary layer region. Due to the opposite phase between dipole source and quadrupole source, sound propagation energy generated by dipole and quadrupole sources is smaller than that of dipole source at the space region of the middle of the body. However, as for the front and the rear of the body, the law is opposite. The noise energy of sound source and space region is focused on low and mid frequencies
