Numerical Prediction of Aerodynamic Noise Radiated from High Speed Train Pantograph



As the train speeds increase, aerodynamic noise of the train becomes one of the main problems. The pantograph, because of its high location, installed between the transmission lines and the vehicle, the aerodynamic noise generated by it cannot be reduced by using sound barrier or other traditional ways, so that the research of the noise source becomes more and more important. In this paper, the flow field and the aerodynamic noise of the pantogragh is numerical simulated and analyzed using Fluent. The flow field is calculated by the Large Eddy Simulation(LES) method, the FW-H acoustic analogy based on the Lighthill acoustic theory is selected as the acoustic model. The computational results show when a train runs at 200km/h, how this typical dipole source produced by pantogragh is distributed in the frequency domain and have a view about the spatial distribution of sound field.
