Numerical Simulation on the Strength and Sealing Performance for High-Pressure Isolating Flange

For satisfying the exploitation of deep-sea, the flange connection should be enough strong and stiff with outstanding sealing performance. Using the 3D nonlinear finite element analysis method, this paper presents the research of the high-pressure isolating flange assembly including the couple of integral type flanges, isolating gasket seal, stud bolts and nuts, partial connected pipes. Refer to ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code VIII Division 2, the FEA model has been expressed, and the analysis results show the strength and sealing performance of the isolating flange subjected to a uniform high-pressure, axial force, shear force, bending moment and torsion under the condition of erosion environment. This method will contribute to the design and deep-sea application of the high-pressure isolating flange
