Buckling Behavior of Defective Carbon Nanotubes
Abstract
There are various atomic defects in carbon nanotubes (CNTs), but how these defects affect the elastic stability of CNTs is unclear. This paper simulated axial compression of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) containing different defects by molecular dynamics method. The influence of defect with different types and different positions on the buckling behavior of CNTs is investigated. Further, the effect of filling atoms on buckling strain of defective CNTs is simulated
