Mechanical Enhancement Effect of Carbonnano-fiber to Conductive Polymer

Abstract


Carbonnano-fiber (CNF) is widely used in composite materials to enhance the mechanical properties. Conductive polymer applied as actuator or sensor are needed to be improved in mechanical characteristics. In this work, several samples of conductive polymer with different percentage of CNFs were tested on an instron universal test machine Instron UTM 3343. Results show that CNFs improve the mechanical characteristics a lot, especially for the modulus, increased from 21.246Mpa to 42.155Mpa.
