Study on Deflection Calculation of Concrete Beams Reinforced with FRP Bars Based on Moment-curvature Model

Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) bars have been used to replace steel bars because of their resistance to corrosion, high strength and light weight. While the low elastic modulus of FRP bars results in deflection and crack width requirements that play a control role in the design of concrete beams reinforced with FRP bars. According to previous deflection calculation methods, the loaddeflection curves and moment-curvature response were established by testing five concrete beams under vertical loads. An analytical formula for evaluating the deflection of FRP reinforced concrete beams was deducted based on the assumed bilinear moment-curvature constitutive model. The theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimental results.
