A Novel Topological Changed Two-phase Flow Solver and its Application in Discharge Investigation on Dam Gate Opening

A novel topology-changeable based dynamic mesh class is developed on inter DyMFoam solver of Open FOAM platform and applied to simulate flow pattern during gate opening motion in hydro-power station. The proposed model is validated and assessed by running a stationary opening case firstly. Comparing with those solutions obtained by ANSYS CFX with the same configuration, the results show the accuracy of capturing free surface elevation and discharge by using the proposed model. Secondly, two gate opening cases, including a plain gate and a radial one respectively, are employed to demonstrate the key features of the proposed model. The results indicate that the current model owns significance on monitoring temporal hydraulic characteristics and weakening vortex-induced vibration.
