The Improvement Research on Radio Wave Refraction Empirical Model of Ship-borne Radar

Abstract


There exist two problems of the radio wave refraction empirical model used by the TT&C Ships, both the refractive error correction and the refractive error correction accuracy when tracking at low-elevation are not accurate. To solve these two problems, we come across a new correction method of the atmospheric refractive error of range measured by using a fitting algorithm based on the zenith delay correction model, the TT&C Ships radio wave refractive correction model is optimized, which can calculate the range refractive error by multiplying zenith path delay and elevation formula. When apply the new method into real-time data measured, we find that not only the problems mentioned above are solved, but also the atmospheric refractive error of range measured correction accuracy when tracking at low-elevation is more precise. The refractive error correction accuracy when tracking at high-elevation and medium-elevation is better as well, all of which satisfy the data processing accuracy requirements under the high-precision tracking pattern of TT&C ships.
