Inter Mode Accelerating Decision Algorithm for HEVC

Abstract


In this paper, proposes a fast inter mode decision algorithm for HEVC encoder. According to the similarity, between the current coding unit (CU) depth and the CU of the spatio-temporal and the previous depth CU corresponding to the prediction unit (PU) mode, to reduce the current PU mode traversal range. Compared with HEVC test model (HM)16.9, the result shows that the algorithm can reduce the coding time by 48.97% on average and ensure the output bit rate of the coding is less and the peak signal to noise ratio(PSNR) is basically unchanged.
