Abstract

In order to obtain the jet forming morphology and jet tip velocity, using the SIMD16 ultrahigh speed camera to capture the shaped charge jet process. The jet shape profile at different times of the shaped jet forming stage is obtained. The jet tip velocity is measured and compared to the calculated value. The results show that the forming process of shaped jet by the ultra-high speed camera. By optimizing the parameters such as exposure time, it is possible to obtain clear photos of the jets at different moments and calculate the jet tip velocity according to the jet’s motion path. The calculation result is basically consistent with the theoretical calculation values. The ultra-high speed camera incorporates a beam splitter and enhancer to minimize the exposure time of camera to 3ns. It can be used to capture and study transient phenomena such as the shaped charge jet forming process, providing research on the design and damage mechanism of shaped charge.
