Dynamic Analysis of Integrated Launch Package in the Barrel of Railgun

Abstract


Electromagnetic launch technology was one of the important developing direction of new concept weapon. The projectile or armature could be accelerated to a high speed by instantaneous released electricity. Integrated launch package (ILP) was seemed as the main ammunition anti-armor currently. ILP could be endowed with stronger ability by using electromagnetic launch. In recent years, how to reduce or avoid gouging, grooving and transition in railgun barrel was the main research direction to increase lifetime of railgun. Most of these researches just discussed the effect between armature and rail. ILP as the final ammunition always contained three parts, armature, sabot and penetrator. The electromagnetic force mainly distributed on the armature. The movement of sabot and penetrator were contributed by the push of the armature. Dynamic analysis of ILP in the barrel was discussed in this paper to provide a reference to decrease damage in the barrel and increase the accuracy long rod.
