Simulation of Two-Dimensional Interior Ballistics Model of Solid Propellant Electrothermalchemical Launch with Discharge Rod Plasma Generator

Abstract


The full paper is published in Defence Technology(10.1016/j.dt.2017.05.004). Instead of the capillary plasma generator (CPG), a discharge rod plasma generator (DRPG) is used in the 30mm electrothermal-chemical (ETC) gun to improve the ignition uniformity of the solid propellant. An axisymmetric twodimensional interior ballistics model of the solid propellant ETC gun (2D-IBSPETCG) is presented to describe the process of the 30mm ETC launch. The 2D-IBSPETCG model includes: pulse forming network (PFN) discharge model [3,4], DRPG model and 2D two-phase flow model.
