Simulation Study on Hydrodynamic Cavitation Characteristics of Water Submerged Jet

Abstract


Waste projectile recycle means a lot to cost saving and could improve the waste propellant utilization ratio. Simulation analysis was conducted to study the emptying technology of waste projectile by cavitating jet. Twodimensional axial model of angle nozzle was build and the cavitating results under different working condition (different inlet media's pressure and temperature, different temperature in the projectile) was simulated by using of mixture multiphase model. The results indicate that, the velocity contours show “sword shape”, and the gas phase mass fraction shows the “tongue shape” and decay along the axis director. The temperature of inlet media and the temperature in the projectile is not the main factor to influence the cavitation. While the inlet media's pressure affects the cavitation a lot, the bigger the pressure, the better the cavitation intensity. The conclusions could offer references for further study of emptying technology of waste projectile by cavitating jet.
