Abstract

Inspection, monitoring and analysis techniques are the core techniques required for the performance evaluation and maintenance of railway system. Accelerometers, velocity meters, thermal couples, strain gauge, LVDT, optical FBG sensors and digital camera have been used to acquire the perform data of viaduct, track, train and power cable of railway system. Some techniques have been developed to interpret and understand the interaction behaviors among these objects for the concerns of safety, serviceability and life-cycle cost of the railway system. Application cases of the performance monitoring and the resonant vibration analysis of the viaduct of high speed rail system due to passage of rolling stock, track internal forces monitoring, on-line inspection of wheel flats, track deformation and defects inspection are presented.
